Reviewing a DMP in the Leiden DS Wizard

DS Wizard Introduction

Creating an account

If you don’t already have an account for the Leiden instance of the DS Wizard (https://leiden.ds-wizard.org/), you will need to create one.

To create an account, go to https://leiden.ds-wizard.org/ and click the Sign Up button at the top right. Fill in your details and use your Leiden University email address. After submitting the form, you will receive an email to verify your account (this can take a bit of time). Once verified, you can login to the DS Wizard.

Reviewing a DMP

You can now select the DMP you have been asked to review from the Projects page, and go through the questions and answers.

As reviewer you have access to the project either via the Commenter or Editor role. As Commenter you cannot change the DMP itself, but can only add comments, as Editor you have the same rights as other DMP authors and you can also make changes to the DMP, see the table below (adapted from DSW instructions on Sharing).

Role permissions
Commenter Editor
View/create comments
View/create editor notes
Change answers
TODOs
Version history

Most of these tools are self-explanatory, but for more information you can consult the links below:

  • TODOs: These are not visible to Viewers/Commenters, but can be used to indicate that a question still needs be answered.
  • Comments: Ask for clarification or give feedback by adding comments to questions, you can also assign these comments to specific people. NB: Editor notes are a special type of Comments only visible to Editors and Owners.
  • Version History: View changes to the DMP over time, Named Versions can be used to mark important milestones in the project (e.g., reviews).

Recording your review

In the Leiden DMP template the last chapter is used to record consultation and review sessions. If you are an Editor you can record your review here yourself, if you are a Commenter you can ask the DMP authors to add your review by leaving a comment. Authors will be notified of your comments (especially if you assign it to the main author), but it may be useful to inform them you are finished with the review by email as well.

Tip

As we’re currently piloting the use of the DS Wizard for DMPs at Leiden University, please provide any feedback on the review process to Gerhard Burger and Kristina Hettne.
